Light and Food Industry

Light industry is a major industry among the branches of production of non-food products in Ukraine. Light industry products are designed to satisfy the needs of population by way of providing consumers with textiles, shoes and other consumption goods. They are also used by other branches as raw and auxiliary materials. It has the closest links with agriculture, chemical industry and machine-building.

The domestic light industry has substantial potential of its restoration and further development and is especially interesting and attractive for strategic Ukrainian and international investors.

Ukraine has always been known as a leading European and world producer of food. During the Soviet times Ukraine accounted for almost half of the food produced in the former Soviet Union. With big strategic investors entering the food industry over the last ten years this industry has demonstrated steadily high tempos of production modernization, introduction of new technologies and growth of gross output.
